19 of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard courts
A revitalized Medvedev won his first trophy for 882 days with victory over Corentin Moutet in the tournament final.
The athlete, a ex- number one, has had a challenging period, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.
His unpredictability on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in specific - caused him dropping out of the top ten and eventually splitting with former coach Gilles Cervara.
Currently training with his coach and his other coach, he has steadily advanced in the recent weeks - peaking in a tightly fought three-set win over opponent Moutet.
This marks his maiden trophy after the Rome competition and first on a hard court from spring of 2023.
Victory also indicates the Russian has achieved 21 victories at 21 distinct competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a event with my children together, so to win a trophy is really nice," stated tennis professional Medvedev.
"This victory is in dedication of my younger daughter Victoria, because the maiden victory I won when my child Alisa was born was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his last six finals, comprising in Halle earlier this year.
The player's defensive strategy and regular reactions on court had prompted observers to doubt if his skill to perform at the top level was concluded.
However the 29-year-old has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to advance forward and play positively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.
He recovered from a deficit in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the last five games to go ahead.
The competitors traded breaks in the following set before the challenger, bidding for his first tour victory, seized the initiative to force a final set.
He saved four initial chances in a competitive deciding set before the Russian secured a break to fifteen to secure the win.
Appropriately, the winner earned the win with a shot at the net area, with his opponent unable to manage a shot after over two and a half hours.
